I've been taking (5mg) zebeta (bisoprolol) for about two and a half weeks now. I've been feeling kind of flush all day and I went to take my blood pressure just now and it is at 155/90. Should I talk to my doctor soon about increasing the dosage?

When I started taking Norvasc for coronary artery spasm, my doctor said it would take about two weeks for it to take effect and the levels to stabalize in my system. So I would suggest you monitor and write down what your blood pressure is running daily for the next week. If it is consistently above 140/90, I'd call and let him know to see if he wants to adjust. Did he say when he wants you to come back in to check on how the medicine is working?

Don't know if this is even helpful for anyone, but I was told by my mothers doc that wrist monitors are unreliable for checking blood pressure. He told me to get one with an arm cuff on it, much more reliable. I also bought one with a digital readout but I can inflate it myself with a tube, seems to be more reliable than the self inflating models.
The wrist one gave ME odd readings. I've never, ever had b/p go over 112/70 and this machine told me twice in one hour that my b/p was 160/85.. wowzer. Went into my docs freaking out, they took it three times in thirty mins.. and it was my norm each time. The docs and nurses both told me the wrist one wasn't accurate (obviously), while they kindof snickered which I thought was RUDE.

:-)  hi, i heard that too, about the wrist monitor so i bought a didtal one also,i think it does a good job, even if it isn't 100% accurate it is close enough.  my #'s have been a little high lately so i am keeping a close eye on it. thanks for you input!

I also have a digital BP monitor that has the bulb that I inflate and it goes around my upper arm.  My mom's a cardiac nurse and said right off that the wrist ones werent accurate and they also have finger cuffs too that dont work well.  However, there is a new company that is making digital wrist cuffs for hospitals and doctor offices only and they are exactly on target.  I dont remember the name of them though, I read an article in Time Mag on it.

mine is a wrist monitor and seems to be pretty on-key with what my doctor said. I'm really not too obsessive or worried about my blood pressure to really invest more than $100 in a blood pressure monitor especially since there is a firehouse down the block from me where my friend works that does it for nothing "the real way"

I paid 65.00 for my BP monitor at my pharmacy.  Granted there are quite a few that are expensive out there.  If your wrist cuff is recording accurately then it is most likely calibrated correctly, which is a big problem with BP machines.  I wouldnt worry about changing it in that case.  Take care....
