Can anyone tell me if they have had an ILR put in before and their experience with healing process and then just living with it on a daily basis?  I've just had mine put in on Monday and am having lots of pain and discomfort with it so far.

I have a Medtronic defib which likely doesn't help you much.  Did your doctor give you instructions to go easy and let it heal?  You can check the site and see what they say.  If you hurting badly, call your doctor.   Maybe someone else will see this post and respond.  Since I have had fibro for years, it seems everything is more complex.

I've already been to the site....it didn't help me out that much. I did call the doctor to let them know about the pain being more than what I expected it to be....they didn't seem to have an answer for "why" it would be hurting this bad. I'm supposed to go to the cardio doc on Monday to get a wound check and they are supposed to answer more of my questions at that time. I'm not the typical patient....from my history it's been kinda like if it can happen, it will happen to me. And the fibro has made my whole life change compared to what it used to be....the fibro and mvp combined has been alot to have to deal with. Thanks for your response though.

Hi Summer, Welcome...I'm not sure what a ILR is?  I will tell you however that I have a guardiant pacemaker that was implanted on 9/05 and I still feel pain/soreness at the site.  I am 33 yrs old and have MS and an autonomic disorder.  I have had lots of trouble with my device, during a fall I pulled out the leads to my heart which caused me to have a revision done...most likely why I have so much pain (scar tissue), and they redid the pocket that the device sits in and now it is flipping over in my chest and getting caught on my bra straps...there is always something to worry about with these things.

When I first got the pacemaker it was at least 2 months before I felt that my chest was healed.  But I do think this all depends upon the surgon and how well they did the implant...My first surgery was good but the lead revision was a nightmare and it was all down hill from there.  I would certianly talk to your cardiologist regarding it.  They should of given you a list of things you can do and cant...and an expectation of healing time.

It's basically another way to record episodes but it is placed under the skin and it is not connected directly to the heart. It automatically records(at least on mine) 3 episodes that it detects on its own and then there is another device that I can place over it to record manually if I feel I'm having symptoms that need to be recorded. Then I go in at least 1x monthly to have the info downloaded for the doctor. He gave me basic restrictions and told me I would be uncomfortable, but didn't seem to feel that I should be having as much pain as I am. I guess I'll find out more info tomorrow morning. Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with your device. I'm hoping that this eventually settles down and doesn't cause me much discomfort for the long haul.

I certainly can understand that with fibro.  I can't recall much being easier to be honest.   Glad you are checking with the doctor tomorrow.  I looked up that device since I wasn't sure what it did.   Do you expect this will help and it's only for awhile until they figure out what the problem is.   Hang in there.  It's not easy and having your life in trumoil.  Els and I both don't want our devices messed with.  Ugh!!

From what I've researched about this device, the percentages are greater for getting results than with some of the other tests that I've already been through. It was either do this or go through the electrophysiological testing and I just didn't feel I was up to that. But I didn't know at the time either that I would be in so much pain with this. I'm hoping that this will get to the bottom of things and help the doc to help me.
