Help needed! New symptoms after ablation!!

I have had to open a new topic as I seem to have lost my other one.

 

I had a ablation about 3 months ago, and everything seemed ok for the first few weeks. Then I started getting feelings like my heart was tensing (feels like when u scrunch up your fist). 

 

That feeling soon went, but for the last week I have been having strange feelings like my heart is skipping a beat. When this happens I loose my breath for a second.  I am also very short of breath, especially when walking.

 

Lastnight I was taken to A&E and while the doctor was taking my pulse it skipped a beat, and he said that my pulse stopped when it did this.  I am really scared as when I used to have a SVT my heart had an extra beat, but now im thinking they have maybe burnt my heart too deep through ablation.

 

The doctor said I was safe to go home and he is going fit me with a 24hour heart machine and send me home for 24hours to see what my heart is doing.

 

Please help, this is not only happening every so often, my pulse is doing about 8-10 beats then stopping, and restarting again.

Hi Queen! When is your doctor going to fit you with the monitor? That is really the only way to tell what your heart is doing. I am not a doctor but it sounds like PACs or PVCs. I think probably PVCs because there is not a compensatory pause with a PAC. It is nothing to worry about though. Lots of people get those. They are very uncomfortable and annoying to some though! I have had them coming as often as that before, even more often and I am still here. ( tongue Thank Goodness!..LOL) I find that they tend to cycle. Sometimes I will go days or weeks with them coming at different intervals. Then they will settle down. I'll only have a few a day or even NONE a day! (YEAH ME!!!!! yeah ) It will be good to wear that monitor while you are having frequent symtoms. As for me, put one of those little monitors on me and my heart settles right down! It is very amusing and I thought of trying to buy one to use as punishment on my heart when it misbehaves, you know, Wear the monitor when the thumping and jumping gets to be more than I can handle. (LOL...Hope you know that I am just kidding. Got to try to keep a sense of humor about these things if at all possible because I REALLY HATE THEM!) God Bless!

Hi there Hopes, the hospital said that as soon as they get a monitor back, they will get in touch with me right away, and said it shouldnt be long.  Thanks for your advice i will look up on the internet now about PAC'S. LOL

I hope the doctor who gave you the monitor is your EP, because he is the one you should be seeing about this.

When I had my ablation they said I would most likely have arrhythmias, sometimes new ones, for at least 6 months after the ablation. This is because the tissue needs time to heal.

You may be having PACs which feel much different than PVCs but are just as harmless. I hate the PACs when I have them and would much rather have PVCs instead.

Hopes, lol you are right about the monitor, it always seems to "cure" my symptoms while I've got it on.
