ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm

Had open heart surgery to replace aortic valve 22 years ago. Had first c-scan last week to follow up a xray that showed a shadow. Diagnosed as an ascending thoracic aneurysm measuring 4.7 cm. The plan of action is to have c-scans at least every 6 months to monitor. The valve is also showing signs of wear but basically I feel okay. When I do have surgery for the aneurysm the valve will be replaced. So right now it is wait and see and I am really scared. Can anyone give me any feedback regarding this?

I know the thought of valve replacement is very scary, my mother has to have 4 valves replaced soon.  Please keep posting and letting us know how your doing.  Take care

Thank you for your support. I had read the info that you sent....in fact I think I have read online almost everything about the condition. Surgery 22 years ago was scary (I was 37) but now it is even more frightening because of the aneurysm.  But I will deal with it just as I have done before.

Will let you know how my next c scan goes.
