Hi ShickiDee,
After my TIA and when I was going through my own PFO/ASA process my neurologist was telling me about two patients of hers that had strokes the month before mine. Like me, both women had no other factors other than PFO that could cause a stroke. One was 24 and had a more mild stroke that she was able to recover from with no long term problems. The other women was 36 and had a more severe stroke that caused left side paralysis and blindness. The 36 year old elected to have her PFO closed while the 24 year old decided not to have hers closed. She's also not on any drugs right now. She was willing to take the risk because she wants to have children before she thinks about having the closure procedure done.
