I was finally diagnosed with PVC's in Dec after a couple were caught on the monitor. I went because I had been having them off and on since the beginning of Nov. Well, after my little ER visit, they went away. However, they came back at the beginning of Jan (right before school started) and are back again now with a vengeance. I'm scared. I had an EKG done, had an echo done a couple of years ago (my dr was fine with this) and wore a 24hf holter monitor in Dec. Everything came back fine. They did find that I am slightly hyperthyroid (my dr doesn't think it's enough to cause the palps) and I'm anemic. I was supposed to go back at the end of Jan for follow up bloodwork on the thyroid and anemia, but lost my insurance.
Anyhow, these things are back, they started up on Friday and became almost constant Friday night and all day Sat, then they slowed down a bit, were there yesterday, and today so far seems like it's going to be like yesterday. I keep thinking that there's something majorly wrong with me, even though the ER doc and my doc said everything is fine.
My instructor (I'm in my last semester of nursing school) is a cardiac nurse told me that she also thinks I have nothing to worry about and she said that it's more than likely my thyroid causing these, along with the stress of school added on to it. She said that I always seem really jumpy and kind of anxious and just high strung, which makes her believe it's all the thyroid. I have had a lot of stress in the past year and a half. My husband committed suicide July '07, started nursing school the following month, my ex mil took me to court (long story), my dear grandpap died Sept '08 from what they think was a sudden massive heart attack, and now the neverending stress of school.
I've had these starting after my first dd was born 6 years ago. Then they went away. Then they came back when I was pg with dd#2, went to the ER, found out my potassium was low, given a one time oral supplement, they went away, then started back up this past Nov and have been coming and going. I'm almost beginning to wonder if they aren't also affected by my hormones (menstrual cycle). The flare ups seem to correlate with my cycle.
I don't know, I guess I'm just looking for reassurance here. I don't want to go to the ER again, because I'm sure they'll just tell me the same thing, "don't worry!" and I don't want to be stuck with a massive bill only to be told don't worry. NOT that I want there to be something wrong with me, but you know what I'm getting at. :) Do they come and go like this? Can they last for a couple days and then go away? Is that normal for these things? The other thing I've noticed that for the most part, when I'm sitting, I won't have them, or maybe one or two, but as soon as I get up, here they come. Then when I'm standing and doing something, I won't notice any. I'm beginning to think I have heart failure or something! I'm just really nervous.
Thanks for your help/advice!
