Hello everyone,

I have not posted in a long time.  And, I am still not taking my medicine because I am scared.  It is metoprolol 12.5 mil a day...does anyone else take this med....The reason I am scared is sometimes my blood pressure is low...and I am afraid of that med...I have a fib...My heart doesnt really race...I mean..it does sometimes...but I flutter atleast 5 times aday....I dont know why I am acting like this....it has been over a month since I have seen the doc...and I am scared to take it....

I am just being dumb...I know I should listen to my doctor...but, does anyone else do this with meds?...

Angela, I take the same beta blocker. Mine is extended release and I take 75 mg. My blood pressure without the beta blocker has always been around 107/70. Low, right? Well, you can imagine how scared I was to take a blood pressure lowering medication. My blood pressure has been 94/66 now that I'm on the med. Try the medicine. Your doctor knows best, as you hinted to in your post. You and your doctor can always adjust the dosage as needed.

Lastly, lots of people do that with meds. They're afraid to take them for whatever reason. I'm normally in the anxiety forum but popped over here for the skipping beats issues. I share that symptom. Anyway, those of us who suffer from an anxiety disorder can totally relate to your fear of taking a new medicine. Hang in there!

Thank You so much Aries..I do have anxiety disorder also...I will try to take it tonight...I have geeked myself up so bad, I know I will have a time even though nothing is really wrong with me...I need to stop doing that to myself...it is insane....I have a whole cabinet of meds I wont take...it is dumb...is there a disorder for that...because if there is...I have it...maybe call it....DONT WANT TO TAKE A PILL A PHOBIA...lol...

I take that med have since 1999 when I had my heart attack 50 mg extended release once aday. I have had no problem with it. Also had triple bypass surgery in Aug of o8 and they had me taking 1 pill twice aday still no problem. Try and take it if you can. Good Luck

Angela.. what are you symptoms of a fib??? and how the heck with the anxiety disorder did you get a doc to listen to you about heart problems????!?! I am in desperation trying to get tests done for my heart but they keep saying its from anxiety. However I dont feel anxiety when I get some specific symptoms. So its driving me crazy.. I feel crazy. Also.. I too have wierd phobias about taking new meds.. so don't worry!!
