My mom has been having trouble with her heart for a couple years. about
two years ago they found her LAD to be blocked and inserted stents. She's had problems with restenosis and they've re-
opened the artery that keeps closing after only a few weeks each time. They've
opened it three times in the last two years.
On her latest angiogram, she went in for brachytherapy but when they got in there, they decided that she had FOUR main arteries to the heart and most people only have three. They said the "extra" artery (a Ramus Intermedius) was doing the work of the blocked LAD and not to worry. She thinks it's a miracle and her heart grew a fourth artery to compensate. To me, I see the same three arteries now as were in her 2008 angiogram. I'd like to know what a more trained eye sees. I don't see any Ramus Intermedius and this looks like a pretty clear scan.
Here's a photo of the 2008 angiogram just after they
opened up the LAD (left photo) and the one they did just last week (right). To me, it looks like I can see all three arteries
open in 2008 (RCA, LCX, and LAD) and in the recent one, I see only two arteries
open. I don't know where they are seeing a Ramus artery.
