Hi. This is my first post in Heart&Cardio... I am a UC paitent, so I normally use the Ulceritive Colitis forum in HW. So please pardon my ignorance about this subject...
My dad is 62 and has no history of cardio issues. He had been calling me all week but we've been missing each other. Got a hold of him today and he tells me that he thinks he had a stroke last Friday 2/5. Said he had dizzyness, numbness in his right arm, and pain. Initial symptoms went away, but he said his arm was tingly and numb for almost another 24 hours. Says someting similar, but less severe may have happened about a week prior too. He didn't go to the emergency room!!! Even though he works at the American Cancer Society & there were a bunch of nurses around who told him he needed to go to the hospital right away. It's been a week now and he says he still feels pretty bad. I can't belive he didn't go to the doctor, and still hasn't... I'm really worried and I think I need to convince him to get care immedietly!
He has medical insurance, but is worried about the major costs associated with this sort of thing because he may loose his job soon and dose not want to have a prexisting condition. He thinks that he can take some kind of natural remedy that supposedly unblocks arteries. Really, I think he is just stubborn or in denial of the gravity of the situation. I could really use some advise. Thank you!
