Atrial Fibrillation

Just wondering if others could share their experiences with AF.  I ended up in ER with AF and did not even know anything was wrong.  Now on Multaq and Metropolol..... It is really scary to me.  I would love to talk to someone who has same condition.  I have a lot of questions. Thanks.

I was diagnosed with Afib when i was 21. I have been in the hospital 3 times since then (37 Now). I currently take Sotalol 160mg twice a day and it pretty much keeps it under control. More annoying than anything. I have little attacks but they only last a couple of seconds. I don't drink or smoke. Alcohol will actually induce an attack. I know how scary a feeling it can be and as long as it is under control you have nothing to worry about. Afib as i have been told is not fatal, but if you let it go too long when an attack occurs you can have a stroke due to the pressure. last attack i had the upper chamber of my heart were out of rythym and the lower chambers were beating normal. I have considered the surgery to fix it but my cardiologist didnt recommend it since i only have major attacks every 5-7 years. so far. if there is anything else you want to know i will see if i can help out.
