Posing some questions about heart catheterization planned for my wife soon

Me I am from the prostate cancer forum on here and been around that for 9 yrs., but don't know much about this area of medicine, so asking for info.

Scenario wife is  58 yrs. old, has some asthma for years, has some thyroid issue and takes a medicine for it also, was a smoker for 20+ years too---quit that 23 yrs. ago. Did the treadmill test and heart echo or such and board line failure for Ischemia. Only did 7 minutes on the treatmill and docs stopped it early, I guess 15 minutes is the max. usually used. Her blood pressure at rest today in docs office  140/98  66 bpm, I think on the treadmill maxed out at 177 or 197 for the first number (the high pressure).

Going in on Friday for catheterization and might possibly end up with stent(s), maybe. What can you tell me about the test, how precise is it or does it lack to like scans do for cancers??? Anything to know on stents, risks, future issues??

She has been started on a couple medications to deal with thryoid, blood pressure and stuff, so  right now, has a type of Nitro drug  Isosorbide 60mg, Lisinopril 10mg, Triamterene 37.5 mg; Thyroid 60 mg.

Right now we know approx. zero on this stuff, so would ask that some of the experienced veterans maybe give us a heads up on what to expect, any red flag concerns, drug concerns you might know about.  Comparitive prognosis for very similar patient perhaps. Links for more info that is worthy. Will try looking at youtube for video on this proceedure.

FYI- on PCa a great forum of H.Well for alround information. Alot of men don't even know they may have PCa, symptoms usually are later if ever. There are indolent versions of PCa and generally slow growing and controllable to some decent levels, there are exceptions all over the place and now 24 know variant types, recently found. Example if you were 75 years old you have about a 75% chance of being found with PCa, most would be treatable or do only Surveilence...it is more common as men age...doesn't mean they die of it, most men die of heart disease and other things even if found with PCa. But then again their are exceptions. As with anything medical, or otherwise knowledge is power.

Awesome, she is home and the test is behind her.  She is lucky to have you advocating for her.  What a sweet hubby you are. The medication seems to be a good choice and encourage her to write her questions down before her follow-up appointment.

I actually started out as a moderator for the PCa Forum when I joined HealingWell but at the time my hubby did not have Prostate Cancer and it did not work out well for me in that forum.  Well since then my hubby had a total postatectomy in 2008 but I have had no questions as everything went well.

I too feel that is a great forum and the members are very supportive of each other. 

HealingWell does a great job of covering so many disease/disorders and I am proud to be a member.
