A high-school friend recently sent an email to me. Three years ago, when his son was 11 years old, the boy was unfortunately found in the heart a muscular ventricular septal defect 2mm. Then, they did a cardiac interventional therapy, but it failed, because the defect was too small to let the mechanisms go though. Now in China, hospitals and doctors all told this family not need to do any treatment.
Recently, they are thinking of seeking a treatment in the U.S., They let me to ask the following two questions:
1. Do American hospitals and doctors also think there is no need to give treatment to the boy?
2. Which hospital is recommended to do an cardiac interventional therapy for such as a case - a muscular ventricular septal defect 2mm
The parents prefer to do a cardiac interventional therapy for the boy, so the defect can be cured, and the boy becomes healthy and normal as other people.
We are looking forward to any suggestions and advices. Thank you very much!!!

This is a good question for a doctor. It's way too complex for us. We're just patients. Maybe there is a way to contact doctors in a large university hospital. We care! I hope someone will respond with some contact information for you.

I would suggest consulting the Sibley Heart Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. They have one of the best cardiovascular programs in the world. Top notch!
