Hi,
I agree with all above. First and foremost, get an EKG and an Echo. Right away.
I had Mitral Valve Prolapse my entire life and was always told it would never get worse. I became very complacent and didn't get the yearly echos I was supposed to. By the time a Doc caught it, I was headed straight for
open heart surgery to repair or replace my valve. Along with that, I was in Atrial Fibrillation. An irregular heart beat. It is common in cases of severe Mitral Valve regurgitation like I had.
You know about
hindsight, right? I wish I wish I wish I would have gotten my yearly echos. Make sure to listen to your body, and listen to your Doc.
I took Amiodarone before and for six months after my
open heart surgery. I did not have any side effects from it, albeit I wasn't on it that long. From diagnosis to 6 months post op was only 7 months!
Now I take Atenolol, a mild beta blocker to just help keep my heartrate down and steady. I was told I didn't have to take it, but I am a little fearful still of going back into AFib, so I choose to stay on it.
Good luck!
Hi, I gave you post a title :)
