Good Afternoon,
C-reactive protein (CRP) is a blood test marker for inflammation in the body. CRP is produced in the liver and its level is measured by testing the blood. CRP is classified as an acute phase reactant, which means that its levels will rise in response to inflammation. My husband has his check every month for his arthritis.
The elevation of CRP has also been recently linked to atherosclerosis and heart disease.
A cardiac CT scan for coronary calcium is a non-invasive way of obtaining information about the presence, location and extent of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries—the vessels that supply oxygen-containing blood to the heart muscle .
The extent of Coronary Artery Disease is graded according to your calcium score. According to the lab values I have knowledge of 101 - 400 = moderate evidence of CAD.
Do not let panic set in but I agree, set up an appointment with a Cardiologist for another expert opinion. Become your own best advocate.
Wishing you the best,
Kitt
