ascending aortic anyerism

I am new and so confused. I have been ill for 3 years...am being worked up for a possible neuroendocrine tumor in pancreas although it hasn't been found yet. Anyways, in the process, I had a chest CT, and a fusiform aortic ectasia,3.8mm was found in the ascending aorta. I looked at a CT from 2 years ago, at which time it only measured 3.6mm and they didn't call it an ectasia at that point. I am 60 years old. I just found out that my uncle had a thoracic anyerism operated on in his early 60s!!!! Neither my mom or dad ever had one, nor anyone else I am aware of in the family.

I am wondering if this could be a familial type of anyerism. I live near Cleveland so have an appt. there in September.

I am also supposed to start Sandostatin for my symptoms that suggest a possible neuroendocrine tumor although none diagnosed yet. I am having a special PET/CT scan to look into that in a few weeks.

Has anyone been on Sandostatin, and how does that effect an anyerism? I asked my cardiologist and he was vaque with me.
