Hello, I'm a 42 year old female in relatively good health. I have had problems in the past with A-fib and had a cardiac ablation which aleviated them. I was also diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, but because I was having the a-fib symptoms I never really felt or understood if they might also be MVP symptoms too. Now that the a-fib has abated, I still get episodes where I feel almost anxious, where my chest feels "fluttery" and I have the sensation of skipped or double beats going on, BUT when I check my pulse I do not feel anything other then a normal rhythm - no skipped beats, etc. With the a-fib I definitely could feel the skip and then a huge thump when it started again when I felt my pulse. I also feel fatigued easily and dizzy at times, especially if I stand up quickly or get up from bending down for something. Could these be MVP symptoms? My cardiologist has me on a beta blocker so my rhythm will remain steady, but I don't think the medicine will make me feel this way. I honestly feel almost like the a-fib without the skipped beat, racy heart feeling. Is MVP something I should be concerned about too? My grandmother died from valve problems, and my mother currently has heart problems including valve (but she is 80 years old) Another concern is that not long after the ablation (about a month ago) I had a TIA (mini stroke), and I'm now on a regimen of aspirin daily. Could MVP cause any problems with strokes? I know that a-fib can.
Thanks for any insight.
