From my understanding, consideration would be given by a cardiologist re how long the vessel has been totally occluded If there is 100% occlusion and no signs of a deficit supply of blood to the area normally served by the LAD, an assumption may be made that there is a natural bypass (collateral vessels) that has developed . There is also the possiblity if the LAD is
opened, the lower resistance of blood flow through the LAD can take away the blood flow through the collaterals.
