PVCs and PACs after eating

Hello,

I am new to this forum.
Many times after I eat, (I am eating slowly, chewing food carefully and eating small meals), I get lots of belching, tightness in my throat, chest pain/discomfort, stomach and abdomen bloating. The chest pain/discomfort goes away after a few hours but the tightness/choking like feeling, and stomach and abdomen bloating and belching continue for a few days. Then usually I get PVCs and PACs especially if i lie down. they can last for hours.

I stay away from fat foods, acidic foods like tomatoes, lemons, oranges. I eat yogurt, non fat cottage cheese, low fat soy milk and non fat milk.

What can I do to stop this tightness in throat and bloating and belching and then getting the PVCs?

Welcome Jeanie -

Do you have your symptoms after every meal of mainly after certain "trigger foods?" A lot of people, like me, have specific food intolerances that bring on these symptoms.

I keep a food journal/diary on the advice of my allergist. It's helped me identify the foods I don't tolerate. I looked up some of the foods on my list with the term "food allergies" and found what they all had in common. For me, it was sulfites. Others can be related food groups like nightshades, or MSG, etc.

There is a syndrome called linked angina, aka cardioesophageal reflex, that relates the triggers in the esophagus to arrhythmias. You can search for the research papers online.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  I am wondering if you have seen your Dr. for these sx and also have you ever been dx with GERD or Gallbladder Disease ? 

I look forward to getting to know you better and will be looking for your response.

Kitt, I have not been dx with GERD or anything else.

As for trigger foods -- I have kept a food diary for 50 days now and cannot pinpoint any trigger foods. One day, I got tons of PVCs after lunch, and I had eaten cabbage soup. So now I don't eat cabbage. Another day they came after eating ice cream, so now I don't eat that either.

Another day, the PVCs came regularlly several hours after dinner, when I started to lie down on the couch.

Now I sleep with lots of pillows and in a half sit position because they have come when i lie prone position.

Today, I have had some tightness in my throat, but no problems in my chest or stomach.

Any suggestions?

I am concerned re your symptoms and truly feel you would be serving yourself well by seeing a Dr.  We want you to be safe and ruling out any heart problems is important. 

Anxiety is another cause of irregular heart rhythms so there are other possibilities to look at.

Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum, and have been reading all the threads and thought I would put my thoughts down on why these PVC's come and go for all of us! I believe its the Vegus nerve, in my situation if I have the diareaha, I get them, I feel its because the nerve gets inflamed and there by causing the pvcs. I have thought this for some time, I was free from them for almost 1 year, and had a couple weeks of diareaha, and boom they came back, I am now taking Gasx, and lots of valium (2mg) to stay calm becasue they scare me when they first come back. I am 56 years old, and have had them since the birth of my baby 30 years ago. I to had all the tests known to man.....NORMAL! So try and go about your business, excercise daily, and have a couple drinks in the evening. Hope this helps you all to not worry so much.

hello new to this site talking about pvcs i also get them after dinner for hours @ the time i told my doctor he ignored me he told me got nothing to do with it when i feel a pvc with in few second i get a burp pvc burp btw i can feel evry single PVC like some one jabbing me

I would switch Dr.'s if I were you, I had a Dr years ago tell me that she had alot of patients that complain after eating.....like I posted, I think it has to do with the Vegus nerve which is attached to every organ in the body, including the heart! If your stomach is irritated, then it stands to reason, that the vegus nerve will also be.
And in my situation, once they start, I take lots of valium to keep me calm, and let them run there course, which could take a few weeks, or even months, but then they are gone for a year or more!
