Toprol and alprazalom/Xanax?

Last Saturday, after eating a frozen entree that had an Asian style sauce, I began having heart palpitations that went on continuously. After an ER visit Monday where the ER doctor said it did not appear to be heart disease, I followed up with my regular doc who gave me Toprol 25 mg. I am very stressed about this and have anxiety issues in general. I wanted to take one of my Alprazalom pills but wondered if there could be any drug interaction with Toprol. Has anyone used both?
