Rejecting sternal wires?

My husband is 10 weeks post op for pericardiectomy as he had constrictive pericarditis. He is doing GREAT but every couple weeks he develops red, swollen areas along the incision that come to a head and ooze then are gone. The rest of the incision looks marvelous. Has anyone had this? Will this ever stop? I am worried that he will need the wires removed

I also had that...it sounds like the inside sutures that didn't dissolve are pushing their way out of the skin. Happened after both my open heart surgeries.
