Hello, I am new here.  I found this while looking for info's on PVCs.  I will not bore you with my long sad story.  Currently, I am 36 year old male, in good shape and take pretty good care of myself.Back in July 2011 I noticed I has getting rapid heart beats when standing and sitting down.  It scared the heck out of me!

I went to the ER and they said everything looked fine and had me wear a monitor for 48 hours.  A few days later I met with my Dr. and he said I had some PVC's and it was nothing to worry about.

Starting in November 2012 I noticed I could actually feel my heart skiping a beat.  I was so paniced!  I called my doctor and he told me to he was going to give me a 30 day even monitor.  I was told nothing oridnary was found.  I hit that button everytime I felt a PVC, so I find it strange that I am "ok".

Anyhow I get them all the time.  They are very scary.  My Dr. said he would see me in May for my annual work up and not to worry.  It's hard not to worry, I feel like suffer in silence with no where to turn.  I am scared that I am just going to drop dead as these things come out of nowhere and are so uncomfortable. 

I was just happy to see a place where other people have the same issue.

I'm experiencing something similar at the moment. I have PVC's (or something similar) while at rest and sometimes whenever I am walking around. Are you seeing a Cardiologist or an Internalist? I have had a plethora of test ran (Echocardiogram, EKG, Blood Work, and a Halter monitor) and the majority of them have came back ok. I haven't had a stress test or a 30 day event monitor but that is likely the next thing I'm going to be doing. I have a c cardiologist appointment tentatively. I hope he can find something out. I've been on a beta blocker (Atenolol) for over a year and it has helped maintain my pulse at a lower rate which keeps my heart palps down but hasn't really prevented the PVCs. I was recommended to ask my cardiologist if I would benefit from another medicine like Atenolol. Also there is another option you could consider which is to seek evaluation from a electro-physiologist cardiologist.

Thank you for your reply.  I have been seeing my GP Dr. but have not been to a cardiologist.  That was going to be my next step after seeing my GP in May.  With my crappy health insurance I need a referal from my GP, so I was going to bring it up to him.

I have read about the beta blockers, but heard they have bad side effects.  Have you experienced any bad reactions from them?

I forgot to mention the PVC's are in the family.  My mom has had them for 40 years and she is still alive and kicking.  So I tell myself that not get all worked up.

I'm glad to hear you are able to see a GP regularly. I would say if affordable advocate for yourself and see if your doctor would give you a referral to see a cardiologist prior to his visit because I know how uncomfortable these things are and know of the fear of the heart just giving out to what to me seems like too much stress on the ticker. I've read Beta Blockers can have bad effects and I could admit these heart palps could be attributed to them, but I have taken Atenolol for around a year or so and to me they are more of a help than hindrance. When you have tachycardia it's better that your pulse stays in better ranges in my opinion. PVCs are by all means considered normal, but they don't seem that way. I would make sure there isn't another underling condition though and if the PVCs are still prevalent you might be able to maintain them through therapy. I would reiterate that it is good to try not to get "worked up" about them because anxiety/stress often makes them worse.
