mona,Hello and I am sorry to read of your problems. I would strongly suggest that you follow up with another cardiologist for a second opinion re what is going on with you. Having someone elses assessment is generally extremely helpful.
I am going to provide you with a very short lesson re the blood vessels of the heart and what determines coronary
artery dominance
.
The artery
that supplies the posterior descending artery determines the coronary
dominance.
If the
posterior descending artery is supplied by the right coronary artery then the
coronary circulation can be classified as "right-dominant".
If the
posterior descending artery is supplied by the circumflex artery,a branch of
the left artery, then the coronary circulation can be classified as
"left-dominant".
If the
posterior descending artery is supplied by both the right coronary artery and
the circumflex artery, then the coronary circulation can be classified as
"co-dominant".
I hope this gives you a brief and simple description of why your Dr. stated that your coronary circulations is "left dominant"
Again, I am glad to see you here with us and keep on posting.
