septal infarct please help

I am a 40 yr old male. I went to the ER last week with chest pain and SOB. They did all the test and said everything was ok, but out of curiosity I went to pick up my medical records a couple of days ago and the cardiologist who read my EKG the day after my ER visit noted that I had a septal infarct. I know the ER staff are not heart specialist, but I do not understand why they could miss something this huge. Still having the same symptoms. I have anxeity issues and I take klonopin for that. It just seems everytime I seek help for SOB, feeling like im going to pass out and chest pains they all write it off to the anxiety. Just very scared and looking for some advice. I have an appointment with a cardiologist this friday. Missed work again today because of this.

Brian,

I am so sorry this has happened to you. If you had a septal infarct that the cardiologist was able to dx from your EKG, please call your Dr. and explain to him what you have discovered as I would suspect your Primary Dr. would want to see you.

I've seen this same thing on some of my reports. And I've wondered about it. I am hoping that the doctors who read the EKG's would note it and would tell me if there was really anything going on. Surely they wouldn't let something major go by! I hope! I don't even know what a septal infarct is. Any more explanations anyone??

My best advice is to ask your Dr. what is going on with your heart if that is what your presented to the clinic for or to the ER. Ask what rhythm your ECG shows and is there any evidence of a heart attack at this time or noted on your previous ECG from past visits.

Be your own best advocate and request the Dr. to please talk to you in layman's terminology.
