Keep in mind, some patients travel by plane to get their surgery. In general, some risks of flying involve development of blood clots, that risk is elevated during the initial post op period. Avoided by keeping active(walk when permitted), hydration. Your surgeon will tell you. Uncomplicated surgery, 3 weeks. Again, talk to your surgeon. Sternal wires may set off certain alarm types.
Those who have had coronary artery
bypass grafts (open heart bypass surgery) can usually fly
after about six weeks (longer if they have had pulmonary complications).
The rule of thumb seems to be between 3- 6 weeks depending what you Dr. instructs you to do as far as activity.
I wish you peace,
Kitt
