just diagnosed with irregular heart beat

I feel a little lost here because my problem is a lot minor than what others on this board here have. I normally post on the UC boards.

So today I went to see my GP because I had chest cramps since yesterday. I suspected just gas in my tummy or for it to be my lung. But she did an EKG and came back saying that it's nothing urgent but she sees irregular heartbeat and wants me to see a cardiologist.

I felt left alone with that and I have no idea what to expect. What can I do to make the chest cramps better till my appointment? And sorry again that I'm posting this here like I said it's really nothing.

Btw I'm 28.

I'm usually in the Chronic Pain forum but I'm helping out over here too for a bit. I'm sorry for the symptoms you are having.

Don't feel bad for posting here! I completely understand your concern.

Have you made an appointment with the cardiologist?

There are so many things that can cause heart arrythmias. You might want to do a little reading on the possible causes.... and symptoms....... etc. Here's a link I found:

That said, while Google can be very informative, I also wouldn't read too much - as it can also get you worked up and even more confused! (I say that from experience!).....

Having some chest discomfort can be a part of heart arrythmia. The cardiologist might have you wear a Holter monitor - which you wear from anywhere from a few hours up to several days - and it gives a good overview of what your heart is doing. There are also many other types of tests/scans that can be done.

That said -- if the pain gets too bad - don't hestitate to get yourself to the ER. It's better to do that...... than to let something go.

Let us know if you have an appointment scheduled or what else the doctor said. Did she explain anything else to you?

Went to the cardiologist today. He said it's not my heart but they found that my air ways are thickenend. Not sure what to think now.

I already did a CT and I'm sitting here with pain still. They gave me a muscle relaxer and it doesn't do anything. I just called my GP but they are not available. They send me to the ER again although I was there 2 days ago and they didn't do anything because it's not a heart attack and it's no blood clot in my lung.

I suspect if there was anything life threatening on your echo, the Drs. would have addressed it right away.

I have an appointment on the 5th with my PCP to learn the results of a ultrasound test I had done this past Wednesday so we are both waiting and expecting good reports.
