staphycoccus capitus infection pacemaker 2 years post insertion

In 2013, aged 70, I finally got a diagnosis of a staphycoccus capitus germ infection ( it is on everyone's scalp) that had lodged itself on my pacemaker - inserted 2 years previously for atrial fibrillation.

The pacemaker was removed and I was given intensive antibiotic treatment. No new pacemaker has been inserted.

I have since had two ablations. The first was a disaster described in another post today. The second ablation was on 5 March 2014. After day 4, the ablation looks promising as I have been in sinus rhythm since the procedure. On awakening, on the morning of the second day, I had an overwhelming sense of well-being. It was as if I felt that I had a bright and normsl physical future,

I am wondering whether anyone has heard of an infection of the pacemaker two years after insertion?

I am also wondering whether my sense of well-being has been experienced by anyone?

Staphycoccus capitus germ infection is rare and is usually found on temporary transvenous pacemakers. Transvenous cardiac pacing is a potentially life saving intervention used primarily to correct profound bradycardia in an emergent situation.

Cardiac device-related infections are rare but do happen. It does my heart good to read your heart is beating away nicely at this time. cool

As far as your question - "wondering whether anyone has heard of an infection of the pacemaker two years after insertion?", I do not have an answer but suspect if you searched enough you would find info re this topic.
