Staphycoccus capitus germ infection is rare and is usually found on
temporary transvenous pacemakers. Transvenous cardiac pacing is a potentially life saving intervention used primarily to correct profound bradycardia in an emergent situation.
Cardiac device-related infections are rare but do happen. It does my heart good to read your heart is beating away nicely at this time.
As far as your question - "wondering whether anyone has heard of an infection of the pacemaker two years after insertion?", I do not have an answer but suspect if you searched enough you would find info re this topic.
Kindly,
Kitt
