Hi all,
I'm a 17 year old healthy active female. For as long as I can remember I've noticed my heart rate was always a little faster than normal. In science class we had to test our resting heart rate and mine was 104. I never thought much of it until I had a simple fitness test done when I first joined a gym this year. The guy doing my test said my heart rate was a little faster than normal and that I should get a heart rate monitor for when I worked out, and that was the end of that.
When I got my heart rate monitor in the mail I decided to test it out while on a short walk with my mom. During the walk my heart rate maintained 110-130 BPM. My mom thought that was very weird.
I started wearing it while I worked out and after 5 minutes of biking my heart got to 170 BPM. (I don't like running so I power walk on the treadmill on a high incline for around 30 minutes) and my heart rate maintains 180-200. I can't imagine how high it would get if I enjoyed cardio and ran for a while.
When I'm not exercising my heart rate varies. I could be sitting on the couch for a couple hours and it would be at a normal pace, or a little high (105 ish BPM). Sometimes I get symptoms of anxiety, even when I'm not anxious (Fast heart rate, arability). Although I think they are 2 separate things.
I'm fairly healthy, I'm not over weight and I like to be active. Other than my fast heart rate I have arthritis in my wrists and Idiopathic Hypersomnia (Most likely caused from my excessive dreaming and parasomnias)
My mom thinks I should go to my doctor but I wanted to know what you guys thought, if it sounds serious and what it may be? Thank you
