Separated Sternum after bypass - What can be done?

i am Kalaivani . My Father his age 56 he had by pass sugery on may 2014. after three month also he complainting he having sternum pain. Initial stage, our surgen doctor told that no problem dont worry but that time they didnt go X-ray so they could not find that wires are removed.after one year also he complainting he having sternum pain. Then We consider other cardiology doctor they told all wires are broken and sternum also separated as more parts. Finally they told we could not heal the sternum by alternating wires because there is no place to stitch again. Finally they told first have to remove all the wires. After seeing result of removing that wires(weather pain will go or not)then we will go plating fix to heal the sternum like they told. But i heared plating process having more risk.i have scared about this operation. i dont know how to solve this problem. please help me.

In my father case sternum separated as 5 or 6 parts.Now also he complaining about his chest/sternum area hurting (obviously!) and mentioned that it felt like his sternum was floating around.Doctor told that Plate fixation only solution.But i am scary about that operation.Because when i am searching about this problem in net nobody told that they relieved from pain and not healing sternum after plating also. Most of people shared their thoughts about this problem that after 2 to 3 times plate fixing also they are having pain also told side affects also more like infection, blood bleeding. so totally i am confused whether i can go for plating or other treatments are there. now i am totally helpless please help me.

Thank you for your reply.Did u know has anyone having this problem and what they had done. And if u know tell me other than plating fix at sternum, Is there any other way to heal the sternum.
