Good morning everyone-
Please--I need some help & emotional support-
In my mid 60s- If any of you recall my posts--have had some "Very isolated " SVT's over the yrs--!
Been thru ALL kinda tests..(here--in Philly & S Calif)- EKGs-Echos-etc-
Also--over the yrs..have had ..multi "holter" monitors--(up to 2 wks)
My last"event monitor" was this past Sept--Showed some-SVT AND PVCs...)--I had posted awhile back--as feeling of "Electric shocks"-!
In fact--I just saw my cardiologist last week--& talked about results..of the 2 wk--study !
He told me the "usual stuff"--"Your heart is structurally good"...
"You had some isolated PVCs"-- etc--
****OK--HERE is where it gets..."interesting"--This paat Monday,..(Oct 12)--I wake up--& start getting .so MANY of these PVCs--w that electric shock feeling ! (No--I do NOT have any pacemaker--etc)
They go on..come & go--NOT continuous--
I go to the...ER---hooked up to the EKG--& get only "isolated"--PVS..)along w blood tests--Chest X Ray--
Resident Dr--sees them--they are NOT continuous !
Other Res Dr-also--sees them--
The head of the ER--Dr...comes in..says.."You're OK--Just PVCs--we ALL get them ! I get them..! You can go home---!"
I do--a little upset--they did not happen more often for Drs--to see
THEN--THIS past Wednesday--AM--I wake up--& they are happening...continuously---I walk one block to --to my CARDIOLOGIST across the Street-!
OK--my cradio nurse--comes out--I am near tears--she HAD wanted to put me on a 48 hr.holter---but NOW--wants to take me to the ER- (The other clerks.in the Cardio office were so nice--asking if I wanted a wheel chair etc)
So--the Cardio--nurse,,,WALKS with me--to the ER--
Stays..TILL I am registered--I go back--(After I get one of those brief 20-30 second EKG strips..(During which I had no ectopic beats)--shows up as "normal"
OK--my HW friends--here---is where it gets."Good"...or "bad"....however
I am laying in one of those beds--in the ER--HOPING for--& waiting to be "Hooked up"--to the EKG--- Because--they are now...popping ...every minute or two--with 2.3..4 a minute-!
I am thinking..."OK--NOW the Drs--will see them ! At least they will SEE how many I am throwing !"
OK--an ER Dr--comes in--says.."OK....Sir...WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU...??" I tel him what's going on--he says.."But..WHAT can I do for you ?"
I -being the comedy writer--say.."Give me a pepperoni pizza well done " He snaps back.."Are you a comedian?"
I respond.."Actually I am a comedy writer !" (I do not think he believed me !)
AGAIN..I ask.."Can't I be hooked up to the EKG--I am right here now?" I mention maybe IF they saw my increase in PVCs...maybe an increase in my beta blocker (I am on 25 mg/day--Tenormin)
He responds-"Well--I see you were in here--Monday--& it showed you just had some PVCs.! AND..you just saw your cardiologist..last week--& he says you're OK !"
By now..I am upset...I tell him...the CARDIAC NURSE WALKED ME OVER HERE !!!!
He says..it does not mean anything--I call her up on my cell---to have her talk with him--I get her voice mail !
NOW..the ER--chief ER DR--comes in--"You are OK--alright?"
I try to explain....what's going on--!
He leaves--sits back at his station---
After I get up..I walk OVER toward him...wanting to give hi...the phone number..of the nurse--he snaps at me--"This is the Drs--area"
OK--I leave,,,go right back to my cardiologists--office--tell them.what happened--!! They seem shocked & upset
Finally-my Cardio nurse comes out.& puts me..in a room---where a tech,,,hooks me up to a 48 hr---EKG--! This was 11 AM..Yesterday (Friday)
OK--NOW--the monitor..is on me---thank God !
And..I am throwing off..PVCs...at a really scary,,(for me) rate!
NOW,,I can feel the strong premature beats ! Happening sooo frequently ! (Tho not as many with that "Electric shock" feeling)
I ask...you - I KNOW...many of you here--have had these PVCs--
BUT--this is something "NEW" to me..(My other "events" were some runs..of SVT--with my heart returning to normal !) -
BUT-- I am getting so many--!!! At times--seems like 150 or more an hour--(cause--with like 2 or 3..OR 4 a minute--that's the total)-
but,,,then...I get some relief--it goes...5-10-15 mins..w only a few-
The monitor will be removed tomorrow--11 AM--Then I will take it to my Cardiologist--Monday morning--& see what HE says !
***********--OK--Any comments..? (I know the ER Dr--was cold & unfeeling..)--
But-anyone here--ever get THIS many--for Soo long..? Also--WILL they ever "let up" on their own..?
Please--get back..ASAP--I really look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks--Regards,
Robert
