I had surgery a week ago to repair a rather massive aneurysm located on my front, left iliac artery. The surgery took 5 hours, with 24 hours in ICU. I came out of surgery with what I believe is the typical number of tubes hanging out of my body at different places. (By the way, this was the first time I have EVER had surgery. I'm a 60-year old male.) My question is regarding the urinary catheter. It was removed 24 hours after the surgery. At first I experienced, what I was told, is normal burning on urinating--that disappeared within the next two days. Now at home, what I have noticed is the foreskin around the penis feels swollen and feels as if there were fluid inside of it. It does not hurt, but is a little annoying.
Considering that everything down there is a state of being "swollen" to various extents, is this something I should concern my self with right now? Is it a common occurence, or do I have to worry about urine retention due to damage from the catheter?
Thanks for your help.l
