Well, as I sit writing all my fellow healing well folks. Some what here, and there, trying to settle down to comfortable pain management. Its been from day 23rd that the Dr.Kon from Wake Forest hospital at Salem/Winston and his surgicial team did the heart aorta, aneurism replacement, replaced the valve, and replaced the arota with a new one. It took about 6/7 hours on the table. about day and half to have all things from me.
Moved down stairs, and from there on till the 29th got discharged. Yes, I am very thank full all the prayers and thoughts while I was going though this surgery. I am not going to say it all went flowers and blue sky. But even with all did go on, Dr. Kon and surgicial team all well taken care off. To just make it short of what happen. My CO2 did not stay where it suppose , but worked on it. My sugar went up and down also. All was taken care of, and the day of discharge, it all was stable.
Now there were hurts that every one goes through, pulling of the drains, pulling of the wires that were in the area of the heart. Pulling the long leads that were in side the chest area, inside the heart area to keep eye on pressure. Then off course came the first day after all that has been pulled out except the drains, not yet...day to hit the floor! Wooser! I remember the first day after my bariatric surgery, I was hanging on to my heart pillow, squeezing the threads out of them, ahahha! But a whole walk around the floor! Amazing it did not hurt more after or before. Still had to learn about swinging the legs legs, to get help with laying back, on my own, using only legs/bends.
But folks, after seven days, even now at home, the staff and nurses all gave over 200% in helping where it was needed. After while one starts to learn each nurse and their nature, I liked them all. Even the ones who wake you up at 3 am just blood pressure, temp, and co2. On Sunday night, we were having problems with the co2/and sugar count, it would not stabilize, so through the night and am, we were able to stabilize every thing, meant more walking to keep eye on co2 eating teddy grams/oj/jello, all came down and stayed stabilized.....JELLO<
So now folks I am at home, Bursnville NC. Going through daily routines, meds/breathing machines, Blood pressures, etc.....Now just that some know, my blood pressure 111/78 and heart rate 86, and stays there. You don't even ask how high it was before the surgery. So folks, this is my beginning with AAA surgery, I know I still have long time ahead of recovery, and therapy. And much in between rest/nap/sleep. I even enjoy ensure...so flavors. My sense of smell is still out there, none what so every. Some things that were my top of the food chain, ahahahah! what food chain, it all taste the same on the same plate and same smell...........but I want to thank my GOD and those who lifted my name and doctors, nurses, and every one, and thoughts go along way. Tomorrow I have my first primary doctor app. at the VA, on the 23rd follow up with Wake, and my wife sees her heart doctor due for the appointment.
All this, in a nut shell, this road is not wide, its not smooth, its not straight, but with hope and prayers and proper engineers, proper personnel, staffs one can not stray off the beaten path, but walk forward knowing many have trampled these roads to make it safe for those behind us. Keep you eyes upward, leaning on faith, reach out and take some one else hands and help them through this. AMEN, GOD BLESS Geoff Watson
