Hi All,
I realize the best source of info would be my doctor or another cardiologist or cardiothoracic surgeon, however I would like to ask if anyone here knows of advances in technique that allow the endovascular repair of the ascending portion of the aorta - with root dilation / mild aortic valve leakage aka regurgitation.
My research up until now indicates only
open surgery can allow the repair.
I ask because one medical person I spoke with seemed to indicate this might be a possibility over
open repair with the benefit of faster recovery time etc.
I also have a pulmonary aneurysm listed as moderate/severe. I'm 50, not particularly unhealthy but overweight - do you think they would opt to fix both in one operation, or multiple. I know the pulmonary side is the lower pressure side of the cardiovascular loop, however it is not without risk, as John Ritter passed away due to a ruptured pulmonary aneurysm.
Thanks for your time,
~Dave
