Greetings to All: Its been 3 months since my AAA surgery at Wake Forest. Looking back from that day up to now, there were some issues I shared to those who gone through the surgery, and passing on the information to others, I would hope help a bit on some insight what to expect. And my self seeking some opinion of my issues.
As for the issues I inquired about all have been dealt with and overcome them. My sleeping problem which was at this time still working on it. Not able to sleep was a great concern to me and my health. Trying to stay away from over the counter aids, and then seeking help from natural sleep help. As of this day, I some what have the sleeping under control. And now trying to steer completely off the any sleep aids.
I am starting the required 36 sessions of therapy for my recovery. This seems to be part of those also after their AAA surgery to make sure the mind and body gets back in one accord after the surgery. I know some that I read about after surgery, from some recovery therapy or self therapy has done well, and some went back to their work, or back to normal life, with some attention on limits to be aware. I am going through the therapy 3 x a week, for about 2 hours. This is a requirement through the VA recovery that is implement.
Also along with that, I am still not able to return to work, unless cleared by my primary doctor and my heart doctor. And I understand this kind of operation is not a quick and easy surgery. If one stands back and look at what was done to help heal and fix the heart, I am at a awe of what this surgery is all about. And many heart surgerys would fall in the same maner. And I know some did come into problems and still working out the problems for their lives. Some have even come out with some serious complications. My prayers and thoughts to those and families who are facing them and hope for clear sailing down the road.
But the whole picture for me and my family, were are thank full all is well. We thank God for prayers from friends and family. And very thankful for those members in this site and forums, chats rooms, and post, in replies and passing on their expericance going through this kind of surgery. So now I have to wait till my therapy is over, and for my complete physical and lab work in June, then in Aug. complete X-rays, and pictures of the heart and chest area. And also have to wait the full 180 days out from my insr. in which I can claim from work to kick in, that is what I call Oh, well......!
Again, thank every one for input, replies, and those folks who have gone through the AAA surgery. My thoughts to those coming up to the surgery, those who have found out they have the this situation and have to face and find some answers they seek. Like I said so far all is well, just really want to get back to work, that I would think is therapy in its self. But have to follow the rule of the roads.
To all, thanks, and will still keep following this site and reply to some inquires by folks facing this surgery, and hope it will help out. GW
