Stress test with echo findings

Hello, I recently had a stress test with echo and it came back saying my left ventricle was enlarged and not relaxing. I have been short of breath and in general not feeling up to par, tired and having pounding and racing heart at times. I have been on atenolol for about 5 years for too fast of a heart beat. The only info the nurse have was to monitor my blood pressure, keep it low and to call if I have problems. I don't know anything about this and I'm kinda shocked that's all the info I received. I didn't ask questions because I didn't know what to ask. Does anyone have any info on what this is or means? Thank you! Update:Just put a call in to the office to get these questions answered.

I spoke with the nurse, she said it means my left ventricle is enlarged and a grade one diastolic dysfunction...which makes no sense since everything I have read says grade 2 when you have left ventricle enlargement and symptoms of shortness of breath, etc. Am I worried about something I shouldn't be?

i'm with lanie, off to the cardiologist. you will just work yourself up with what if, could it be, is it type thing.

Trains run on gas? Your post did sort of ring a bell with me because a few months ago I had an abnormal EKG during my annual physical so my doctor ordered a second one a month later. (I'm on BP medication and I'm 67, no prior heart problems or abnormal EKGs.) The second one was abnormal like the first so she sent me to a cardiologist. After a nuclear stress test and EKGs there, I received a call from the nurse reading the results (normal) and I asked for a hard copy of the report which was mailed to me. I had a follow-up office visit a week later in which the doctor himself explained the report. I am also to see him in four months.

And I believe that's what your doctor should do with you, so, again, if I were you I would want the doctor to explain the report and you can ask questions to understand what's going on.

As a PS to my own case, since my nuclear stress test was normal, I asked the doctor why the EKGs showed abnormal and he said it 'could' be that the heart turned a little resulting in an abnormal reading compared to all the previous 'normal' ones. When he said 'turned' I must have looked shocked (I guess I was.) and he said, "I don't mean upside down." So, that was a needed laugh, I can tell you that.
