I am confused and frustrated.
I have been having shortness of breath, fatigue and chest/upper back pain. I am a 45 yo female who had heart surgery as an infant but have had not problems since. I went to my primary doctor since I had not had a cardiology workup in years. she did ekg (normal) blood work (normal) and sent me for echo and holter.
Echo showed: Left ventricular systolic function severely reduced EF 20-25% and severe global hypokinesis of the left ventricle.
Holter said: Very frequent premature ventricular complexes. 16%
I live in a somewhat rural area, so my Dr sent me immediately to a larger hospital since it was the weekend and she said I needed more testing immediately.
At the larger hospital I sat around the ER from Fri evening until Sat evening before they repeated the echo. They did a chest xray and said it was normal. When they finally did the echo Sat evening, they said it was low/normal 50% EF. Can there be that much change since Wed to Sat?? Since it was clinically normal, although on the low side and since the blood work and chest x ray are normal, they kept me until Sunday afternoon, did a CT scan and said I could go home.
I'm concerned that I still have off and on shortness of breath and fatigue and off and on chest/upper back pain and no real explanation. They did say one of the chambers is enlarged and that I have " a lot of" skipped beats....told me to go see an electrophysiologist for more testing.
Has anyone else had such differing echo results?
I appreciate any help.
