Venous Insufficiency diagnosis

I was diagnosed a year ago with Venous Insufficiency in my lower legs. The vein specialist took an ultrasound and said the valves in my legs were not carrying the blood back to my heart but rather going up and then traveling back down again. I had gone to her because some swelling in my right ankle after being on Prednisone for my Ulcerative Colitis. I was diagnosed with superficial phlebitis at the time and just told to apply warm moist compresses. I've been wearing compression stockings on and off now for the past year. My legs have been feeling more tired lately and I've been feeling itchy in my legs and ankles and my veins in my legs are more prominent and visible especially at night after being on my feet a lot during the day. My vein specialist had said last year that I would need to have a procedure done that involves inserting a catheter into the leg and quarterizing the vein to enable the blood to travel through another vein and travel up to the heart like it should. Has anyone on here had this problem and have you had this procedure done and has it helped? I forget the medical term for the procedure. My doctor said it was minimally invasive and could be done in her office.

I am 69 years old and suffer with Ulcerative Colitis andkept putting off the problem with my legs due to coping with a major UC flare this past year and trying to get that into remission. But I'm feeling that I need to do something now about this vein problem now.

hi, my mum just had something similar, but more in terms of blockage flow in the legs. angioplasty, balloon job via angiogram. if the doc says wear the compression, i say listen. yep, sooner than later. just passing on by is the turtle. former complex db-pass.
