Dobutamine stress echo

I am a 73 yo man with severe spinal stenosis, so I refused an echo stress test on a treadmill. My cardiologist is requiring a dobutamine echo stress although I have no heart issues except high blood pressure
under control with tribenzor. I am frightened of the dobutamine test, so I would like to hear experiences of those who have taken it. Thanks.

geez alex. my sis got spinal stenosis, she not in your age bracket thopugh. is that with the dye? how is your activity level? and kidney function? poor kidney function plays havoc with bp, as kidneys regulate bp. no genetic heart history? cholesterol? ask doc why. usually there is a solid reason. keep posting, hope others with more info pop in.

Hi Alex, try not to stress over this test. I have to do this yearly. I admit the first one I was terrified but my cardiologist & several nurses were right there talking to me the entire time. I too am physically challenged & no longer able to do the treadmill.

The dye will not do anything to you or have an affect on your stenosis. I think you will do fine. Let us know how this turns out.

Thank you Susie and Happy Turtle. My cardiologist ordered an echo stress originally, but I had it changed since I can't stay on a treadmill long enough to complete the test.
