Question about about a finding on xrays

Because of a fall lumbar I had x-rays taken and a abdominal aorta aneurysm was seen at L-4-L-5, because of a fracture from a fall. My dr. ordered a lumbar C-scan. The C-scan reports all the disc's, the fracture, arthritis and stenoisis but says abdominal areas seen are unremarkable. Wouldn't the aneurysm be seen when the report talks about L-4 and L-5?

Hi Palmy, sorry to read about this fall. Since this CT was of the lumbar spine, I would ask the dr to order a CT of the abdomen. It will show up there if you in fact have an aortic aneurysm. I also suggest that you obtain written reports of all these xrays that you have done. You are entitled to a copy of these records. All you have to say is the records are for your own personal file.

My mother had an aortic aneurysm & never required surgery thank goodness. They monitored it yearly to make sure it wasn't getting large enough to the point of needing surgery. It gave her no problem at all either. A very close friend of ours has one too & he is on the same protocol like my mother was.

yep, surgery is dependent on the size.
