PFO CLOSURE QUESTIONS - HELP!

Please help me! I've JUST been told I should have my PFO closed. They think I had a TIA in June and I have a strong family history of heart issues. I have SOOO many questions. For those of you that have had a PFO closure - PLEASE tell me what it was like, how you felt after and now. Also, what is a bubble test? What test did you all have to have before your closure? I was told I need a Cardiac CT, a month long heart monitor, and a TEE before the closure - is this a bit much?? Should I get a second opinion from a Neurologist? I'm seeing a interventional Cardiologist now.

Hi Nancy & welcome to Healing Well. This forum runs very slow. There are old threads back in the archives, but to be honest I do not know that you will find any of them helpful at all. Not many ever stuck around to keep updates coming about their progress.

I understand your fears & concerns. Try to calm down & make an appropriate list of questions to ask the dr. Your dr will be your best source of accurate information. If you are searching for info online, please do yourself a favor, stick with medical institutions when looking things up. Places like Mayo Clinic or John Hopkins. These are trusted sites. You will find too much inaccurate & garbage on the internet.

If you are considering a 2nd opinion, I suggest it be with another cardiologist. Keep us posted.
