Hello all, am new here. Late last night I developed a high pulse rate . Mine is usually around 75-90 but suddenly last night it was 135 on my oximeter. Shortly thereafter it was 150. I can accept that the second rating might well have been stress after the first, but I was really alarmed by the 135. I have to add too that for the past week or so, I have felt "off" - can't put my finger on it but just not right. Slightly nauseous, mild headache, just not ok. I should add that I am a young 81, live alone except for my cats (I have run a cat rescue for over 20 years!), have COPD (allergy panel says I am NOT sensitive to cats but I lived in the LA smog area for 40 years). My COPD is mild at this point & I am fairly active around the village (rural WI).
Anyway I ended up in the ER & have the usual tests (EKG, heart monitor, labwork, etc etc), the doctor told me I had tachycardia & that it was common in the "elderly" but not what kind & I didn't know enough to ask. I am going to try to see my local doctor tomorrow. I was really glad t find this forum & hope maybe can get some input as to what may be going on with me. I am too busy with the rescue & reading my stacks of books to be ill!
