i am a 48 year old female. i am quite fit, yoga swimming. but i recently had an ECG for a pain in my chest which was thought eventually to be muscular, the doctor referred me anyway as a precaution to the chest clinis. tuesday i had a stress test and the results where , 114 percent fitness, a negative test, the harder my heart works the stronger it is. but the doctor said there are a few wee blips in the middle that may be hormonal and she is not one bit concerned but as my dad has heart problems she is snding me for an echo for further reassurance.

i am so nervous and think has she seen something really bad and didnt want to say. i watched my dad take a heart attack and it freaks me out and im wondering if these blips are CAD can anyone relate or provide advice

Hi Jacqueline, I know it's scary to be told to have heart tests. I went through this a year ago (and I'm 13 years old than you.). I had irregular EKGs and I had to take a nuclear stress and ECHO test to rule out heart problems and even a heart cath when they thought they saw another irregularity. But they all came out fine. I think doctors order these tests out of an abundance of caution. But all this created a lot of anxiety in me even though the tests were good.

The best I can say is trust your doctor and be glad she is looking into any irregularitites. So often, women's symptoms are over looked. If you have ANY doubts about the test interpretations, then get a second opinion. And be sure to ask what the test results mean.

lanie thank you for replying i just get scared and nearly be afraid to move in cas i die,i try to be strong, meditate, go about my busy life but i was so used to everything coming back clear that this query has me floored. the mind is a terrible master when left to rule

Sorry to pester xx went to gp x x he said the blip was only a change of less than 1 cm and then it very quickly returned to normal. But I can’t tell u the panic that has set in. I mean right now I feel I am either on the verge of a heart attack or a panic attack. And I am aware u can get edgy before both. How will I know xxxx sorry again

Need to breathe. Deep breath thru the nose right to your belly....hold it for 5 seconds and slowly release by pursing your lips and slowly releasing. Your working yourself into panic and panic attacks mimic heart related stuff....but are just anxiety ramped to the max.

Doc has ya covered. Relax. I am a ha survivor....cad and had a double by pass. From reading your risk facrors are clear......keep strong. HT

Thank u so much xx am a yoga teacher and your so right I need to practise what I teach xx do u think risk is very low as you are experienced xx sorry to ask

We aren't medical professionals, but I think your doctors are doing the right thing in ordering more testing in an abundance of caution. Lanie is right, trust your doctors. I'm another person who has gone through a lot of heart testing in the past, and continue to do so. All outcomes are not bad, and you are not doing yourself any favors by working yourself into a panic, although I know it's difficult. Take HT's advice, and breathe.

Hi I got my stress echo on Monday and heard nothing so far. So nervous and it was a horrible test. So shaky. Didn’t tell me anything there and then is that normal.

Yes, it is normal. The technicians are not allowed to give results. The dr has to review & interpret everything. I know it's stressful waiting but hang in there.
