A cardiac cath is pretty easy. I had mine with no anesthesia and would do the same next time. I think the anesthesia is more for nerves than pain in the case of a cath. I tried to see if I could feel the cath when it got to the heart, but I really couldn't feel much at all. A little pain when they first insert the cath, but they numb the area so it's not too bad.
In my case, the cardiac cath found more severe blockage than the other tests had indicated. One tip, if they go in through the groin, ask them to shave everywhere they might need to use adhesive. Taking the gauze patches off hurt more than anything else.
