Hey everyone! Really need as many opinions as I can get
OK, here is my story
58 year old male, overweight, very high cholesterol. I do take blood pressure medication and my BP is good.
I have had 14 surgeries from my athletic days of old (Rodeo and Football) Bilateral knee replacement.
I had physical and Primary physician took X-Rays during routine physical and said my "heart" was enlarged.
This started the cardio adventure. I went to cardiologist and had 3 days of testing. Echo, sonogram, and nuclear stress test. The cardiologist stated my heart was "NOT" enlarged. However he stated that in my left side 3-6PM there was a flowage issue and wants to do a heart catherization. I am scheduled on the 13th of this month.
Couple of my close friends want me to get a 2nd opinion? Your thoughts???
Only symptoms I have is and they are minor when I do physical stuff, a minor shortness of breath.

Hi BigCountry, your GP is not a heart specialist, I would listen to the cardiologist. Not sure since you were not real clear, but it sounds like you may have what is called a leaking valve. I'm not a dr & this is strictly a guess on my part. The heart cath sounds scary, however, it is a painless procedure & you are given some sedation.

I watched during my cath & really wish they would have let me have my glasses so I could have seen the screen better. I have a valve issue that has been in the monitoring stage for years. I was in my early 30's when my issues were diagnosed. As long as I keep my BP down, cholesterol & weight under control I will not need the valve replaced.

Your friends mean well, but once again they are not drs. Have your cath done. Keep us posted.
