Here is my Beef

I live in British Columbia, where there is health plan for everyone. I find you can change family doctors but not specialists. I would like change my cardiologist,she seem to me be someone with her head in the clouds. She tells I am all better, and come back next year. I have constant chest pains( no answer that) the strongest medication I can get is naproxen. For some reason I usually feel better and stronger in late afternoon and evening. Her answer it is a virus (what kind?) and I also have everyone's favourite "palpitations" everyday. The best one of all is when you get a weird feeling in your chest and have sit down before you collapse.

I am only getting four weeks of insurance payments, good thing I have savings. I worked as construction electrician which I am in no condition do now. I get told go back to work no problem. You try working without being distracted by all the pain and debilitated that your are in.

Hi rijssel, I am sorry your having so many problems with your cardiologist.  I dont know anything about the health system in British Columbia...it does seem odd that you wouldnt be able to change your cardiologist if you find their services unsatisfactory.  We here in the US often can run into a physician that is neglectful of what we tell them is going on...but it is so easy most times (according to insurance plan of course) to change doctors.  Is there nothing that your primary physician can do?

 I will ask my family physician if he can do something about it, he rolled his eyes at the fact I was told come back next year.

:-)  Hi Rj, i was not surprised to hear about your cardiologist, sometimes i think they treat us like a number. right now i have a great one, but even he only wants to see me once a year. but i do not have angina like you.  did you have a heart attack? what is your diagnosis?Age?

Hi Dreamgirl

I am 42, did not have heart attack. I started having chest pain,which I still have. It was when my chest pain starting hurting alot and having a fast heart rate, I went to hospital.My tests did show anything,diagnosis as having coronary artery spasm or Syndrome X angina.

My family doctor told me that the Cardiologist did all the right tests, so I can't change.

I having chest pains for two days now, nonstop and nitro spray is not doing much. Went to ER, my EKG and blood tests were good. Went home feeling the same.

I wonder if I have GERD, I don't feel like eating and some of the foods I have eaten make the pain worse.

I got my test results today, I do have GERD. Maybe I don't have any heart problems and it was a misdianosess

:-)  i was thinking the same thing, maybe it is your stomach. before you drive yourself crazy, ask you dr. for a prescription of prilosec, or one of the other proton pump inhibitors.  i use to have chest pain and discovered it was really my upper stomach, i had a hernia that was pushing on my esophagus, once i realized what it was, icalmed down, anxiety only made it worse. try a few deep breathes and try to to be anxious,not preaching, just i have been there and my anxiety really was causing a great deal of the problem..good luck  keep us posted  ps. also have gastritis and gerd
