nono  Recently my husband had a CT scan with a new machine.  He did not have any previous symptoms but they discover an 80% blockage in the major front artery.  Thus the next day he had an angiogram and a stint put in.  Was sent home the next day.  On day three the groin area where the wire was inserted was swollen and very discolored.  I assume this is normal for this procedure.  On day four he developed a pain which settled into a discomfit feeling area his heart area which also felt numb.  Is this normal or should we become alarmed?  So far we are trying to wait until Monday when the Dr. will be in his office.  Any suggestions?  grandb7

:-)  Hi How did things turn out?  the things you described are not to my knowledge 'normal'  i had two stents and never experienced any of what you described. i did however have my whole thigh area turn black for a while, like a huge bruise,that left my leg discolored for over three months, but i think it was harmless.

Well, our son convinced us to either go to the emergency room on Sunday or try to call the Dr.  I called the office and discovered there was an on-call Dr.  It turned out to be the Dr. that diagnosed the problem.  He was not concerned and said to take ibuprofin and call the office in the morning if it wasn't better.  Monday it wasn't better and we called at 8 am.  We were told the Dr. would return the call.  That AFTERNOON a secretary called to say she tallked with the Dr. and he thought all was OK and didn't want to see him.  Meanwhile we are trying to decide to go or cancel a trip on Thursday.  (air and 1 week stay)  Although we feel the Dr. had an uncaring attitude we decided to wait until Wednesday and then probably go if not any worse.  So the saga goes on.  Grandb

Hi grandb 7, My personal opinion would be to go to the ER as soon as possible. I've had 7 catherizations and one balloon placed, and i have never had that kind of problem. I don't mean to alarm you I just think it needs to be looked at to make sure everything is ok. Good Luck to you and your Husband, let us know how he is doing.

:-)  well, i was trying not to scare y6ou, but i too would go to an emergency room if you are still having that problem.  wow a trip so soon, i was way to run down to go anywhere.   also, it is really scary the way some drs. and their nurses treat us like we are over reacting, i am so thankful i get pretty quick treatment from my insurer. i had heard so much bad about group health and i can tell you i get better treatment with them than i ever got with any other insurance.  they are just such a smoothly run organization, and i never have to beg or wait for long periods. wish everyone could have a group health.  sorry to go on, but for the first year after my stents i was so neglected by drs. that i never got any real help til we switched.

Well, it is Wednesday at 11 pm and we have decided to go ahead and go on the trip tomorrow! I have visited with several other Dr. and a Rehab. nurse and they too thought his symptoms were nothing to worry about. And one Dr. even said it would be good for him to get away from home and work, SO we are going. Today he drove to Rotary at noon and tonight we went out to eat at a friend's home. He is packed, mine is still waiting. So we are off tomorrow and I send another note when we return. He is feeling better but just sore and walking very slowly. Thanks for all your concern. GrandB

:-)  Bon Voyage, and be safe, let us know how your hubby held up, i personally could not have gone to town in that short of a period, but i am such a lite weight!!!!
