Hey guys...I've got some new symptoms and wondering if anyone can relate.  I get jaw pain, sometimes chest pain, lightheaded. This all started since I started the atenolol to control my tachycardia. I've been to the er twice with these symptoms but the said it was anxiety and underlying tachycardia. Im scared because I read that these symptoms could be a sign of heart disease. Can anyone help?

I've had that too and no one seems to say anything about it. My Cardiologist said that you can feel lightheaded because of your heart racing and not pumping the blood efficiently. Have you asked your Cardiologist? I'm always concerned about underlying heart disease too, especially because it runs in my family, so I always ask questions.

Hey Neuro, Your chest pain could be from your Tach, the jaw pain and lightheadedness could also be from your medication you may want to give your pharmacy a call and just ask them if these are possible side effects from it.  As for the heart disease it is my understanding that the only clear-cut way that a physician can find out if a patient has heart disease or not is to do a cardiac cath...which is very invasive.  You will have to look at several things before hand...yes, heart disease is more promanint in women then men but family history of heart disease is always going to be a huge factor in this also.

Hey Elisha, thanks so much for the response. Come to find out...you are right! The doctor confirmed that the chest pain was from the tach. As far as the jaw pain he said it was from my anxiety. Not sure but I guess anxiety could cause physical symptoms. I had a stress test that was normal, I'm assuming this rules out heart disease??
