Hi I'm new and Sorta Scared

Hello!  I am new here and having a bad day.  I am 40, overweight, high cholesterol, hypothyroid.  I am scheduled for Sinus surgery next week Thursday.  And today I get a call from my GP directing me to see a cardiologist because my pre-op ECG was abnormal.  I am freaking out now because I fear this surgery is in jeopardy.  Now I know from a gallbladder surgery in 2005, that apparently I have always had the same abnormalities appear on ECG's.  But no one ever sent me for further testing.  I have had 7 surgeries since 2002, with NO problems.  I also suffer from abdominal adhesions, and am in pain management for it.  The only thing I know from the ECG report is written: T wave abnormal, consider anterior ischemia.  The numbers read.. Vent Rate 81, PR interval 204, QRS 82, QT 376, QTc 436, and PRT 55-28-42.  I have never experienced any heart related problems.  I do not have high blood pressure.. So now I am really afraid.  I just wanted to get my sinus problems fixed, so I can stop being in a constant state of infection and facial pain and pressure.  I try to be the best advocate for myself, trying to gain knowledge, but this has me really scared.  So is it unrealistic to expect that I will be going forward with my scheduled surgery next Thursday.  I am preparing myself for that let down, after preparing myself for yet another surgery.  I just don't know.  I have also copied all of my op reports so the cardio doc can see, I have had no previous issues with surgery.

I see alot of good information here, and have alot more reading to do.  Forgive me for my chicken little syndrome, I am just trying to understand what it could mean.

Thank you for the welcome.  I am a little more relaxed today, but still nervous.  I very well may be dealing with standard protocal.  I am in a territoy that I have no experience in.  It really bothered me that my GP just had his nurse call me, with no explanation other than the ECG was abnormal, so I should see a cardio, here is a number.  And this all occured late in the day on a Friday.  So I am trying to keep busy so I don't keep thinking about it.

Well I had my visit today, and I think it went quite well.  But Mr Murphy's law keeps following me.  When I showed up at my appt, I was told the doctor they scheduled me with, was at the ER because he fell coming into work. YIKES.  But luckily there was another doc available to see me.  He was very nice.  He was not overly alarmed at anything he saw.  My blood pressure was good, 114/78, and my heart sounds were good, and there wasn't anything in my family history of concern. The high cholesterol is under control with meds, and I have no heart related symptoms. To be on the side of caution, he has ordered a nuclear adenosine stress test.  He said that he does not expect to have anything major enough show up that would make him advise a hold on surgery.  He said he will more than likely give the approval, and any outline any risks if something does come up.  I have the test early Wednesday morning in their office. He agree's that 8 sinus infections since August, is too much.  He said that the results will be immediate and I will know for sure on Wednesday.  He was very selective and understanding regarding some of the limitations I have with "physical" stress that would aggrivate my adhesions pain.

Thank you Dreamgirl.  I have found that the only way I could function is to find some humor in my various health problems.  Otherwise I would be in a whole.  Don't get me wrong, there are times when I do get very down.  But I have found a great support network to perk me up when I sink too low.

I am on Lipitor for Cholesterol, I guess it is doing it's job.  We will see anyway.

Speaking of my nature for misfortune.  Good think I am NOT doing a physical stress test.  I slipped and fell this morning in the parking lot at work.  And of COURSE there had to be 2 cars that were waiting while I decided to explore the parking lot floor!    My knee is pretty banged up, and my back is sore.  Thank goodness they were strangers and not fellow employees...

I will post more tomorrow after my stress test.  It will be first thing.  Have a great one!

Got the ALL CLEAR for surgery tomorrow.   The report was everything was normal.  That is a relief.  The test itself was a little uncomfortable, I almost got sick, but I made it through the full 4 minutes of drug stuff.  They had my results to me in 1 hour.  Other than that.  I can now resume my pshyc up to surgery.  Thank you all for coasting me thru this unsettling time.  I truly appreciate it.

I am home and resting now.  Everything went well, the surgeon was an hour late, but the outcome is good.  I had ALOT of pain post op, so it took a bit to get it under control.  THANK YOU Dilaudid!    I have splints and gel packing, so I hope to be back up and around soon.  I look so fashionable with my gauze mustache!  I get the splints out Tuesday.  Well I had better go, still very very tired from the anesthesia.
