Can anyone tell me what might be expected after testing very high on the calcium scale from a ct exam. I have not seen a doc yet but will start with my internist. I don't have any sympthoms of coronary heart disease but these test results put me in the upper ten percent of men my age, 56 years old

Hi jimk, Welcome to HW we are glad to have you join us here.  I cant say that I have ever heard of high calcium levels.  It sounds like a very good idea to speak with your doc regarding this.

Yes this was a heart scan. The high calcium score is related to the amount of plaque building in your coronary arteries. I'm going to see a cardiologist on Mon. July 4. I don't know what to expect.

In simple terms this new procedure is proven to be accurate and safer than invasive procedure for people in the above mentioned categories.

IMO your visit with your cardiologist will be to discuss the results of the scan and what or what you do not have to do for follow-up.

If the scan had shown anything life threatening you would not be home writing to us so that appears to be a good sign.
Cardiologists would be negligent to send you home if the findings indicate severe, life threatening disease.
