Hi,
I'm new to this community and have joined, so I can maybe get some information from patients who have had the DiVinci heart valve repair procedure done. My mother needs a heart valve repair and is trying to decide whether to go with the traditional surgery, where her sternum would be split to gain access to the heart, or to have it done, using the DiVinci procedure.
She is in excellent health, very excellent health, actually, in her late 70's. I know that she'd do well if she went with the traditional method of repair, but I'm also aware that recovery time is long when bones need to heal.
Has anyone had the DiVinci procedure done? Was it successful? How about your recovery time? Insurance coverage issues?
As you can see, we have a lot of questions. I'm going to suggest to my mom, that she join this group, too. So she can read your comments for herself.
Thanks, everyone.
