Any success stories with Nexium?

I'm wondering if anyone has had a good, or great experience with Nexium in treating GERD symptoms....

I'm on 80 mgs (well, currently 40, weaning myself off).  I liked it...but would have breakthough acid.  Personally, I would try to go a different route in healing your GERD than getting on a medicine.

I agree. With all of the new findings that Nexium can stop Vit. C absorbtion and can cause breaking of hips, who needs that?? Try some other remedies first. BTW, I just found out today that the Zetia for high cholesteral that I have been taking for the last year is useless and can even be worse for aterial plaque. So go figure. I'm kind of down today on the pharmacutical companies!! Lol!!

Mom2Sophia...how is the weaning going???  I am weaning too...my doc knows.  I have gone from 40 to 20 once a day so far with little problem.  We can probably help each other since it sounds like we are in the same boat!!  I hope its going well for you :)

DramaticHealth, I'd like to give you a warm welcome to the board. Are you currrently prescribed Nexium, or anything for your GERD? My best suggestion is do your research, and get the opinions of your doctor as well. Medicine doesn't work for everyone, but for many people it does. There might be some other routes you can take as well. I am going to bump up a post I've done talking about ways to minimize GERD symptoms. You may find some things in there useful. Thanks Tammy. I'm new here too so I need that post to minimize those GERD symptoms as well!
I really am so thankful that I found this board. This nasty GERD is not fun to live with at all!

My Dr has added Gaviscon to my regimen as it forms a protective seal around the valve. It is an old med but the only one like it on the market.

How do you like Gaviscon as compared to other meds?  I have never tried it...is it scrpt only?
